Virtual Reality Therapy Used To Help PTSD And Anxiety Patients

LUBBOCK, TX – A local psychologist is the first in Lubbock to use “Virtual Reality” as a way to help during therapy with his patients.

“A major form of treatment for anxiety is exposure therapy, expose them to the things that make them nervous and help them come to a calming state,” Dr. Brian Carr, a Licensed Psychologist said.

Dr. Carr said he’s always been interested in technology advancements and when he heard about the virtual reality therapy.

“In this experience you can actually get up and walk around and look over the edges and corners. Its a completely different environment. I think that is why its so vivid to people is because it takes them into a whole different world,” Dr. Carr said.
